NHAFA is a new instrumental ensemble creating original music that naturally and emotionally bridges Middle Eastern musical traditions with Western music and modern jazz. The band’s distinctive sound is born from the meeting between the musical heritage passed down through their families and the music they grew up listening to — a meeting that develops into a contemporary Israeli-ethnic sound with a personal musical language. With oud, qanun, Turkish clarinet, bass, and drums, NHAFA creates a rich and evocative sonic landscape, opening a door to a journey through the roots of the Middle East. Their music is melodic, harmonious, gentle and emotional, moving across a wide range of feelings while bringing together groove and a fresh sound that connects old and new.
